Apple Picking

Monday, September 30, 2013 11:30 PM

I went apple-picking for the first time on Saturday! It was a major tradition in my family to pick blueberries every summer, and we also picked strawberries, blackberries and peaches at various times. But there are no apples to be picked in Florida, where I grew up. So J and I enjoyed some of the perfect weather on Saturday by driving to an orchard in Buxton, where we passed over the Macintoshes and loaded up on Macouns and Cortlands instead. One difference from picking berries: With fruit as large as an apple, those bags fill up quick!
