Thrift Finds for November

Saturday, December 1, 2012 3:03 PM

Although I stopped at thrift and consignment stores a handful of times in November, I had only one successful shopping trip. But it was more successful than any one thrifting stop I'd had in awhile. Not only did I come away with multiple items, but two were pairs of shoes — the only ones I've thrifted all year, other than the Cole Haan loafers from August. And both pairs were nearly new and will make my shoe collection a lot more varied and interesting. Unfortunately, it's now winter, and I tend to wear boots exclusively when the high temperatures dip below 37 degrees or so. You may not see these again for awhile.

There are a couple of fairly specific things I'm looking for, and that will require patience. One is a chunky, slouchy, off-white sweater. I found almost the perfect one at Material Objects, but it had too much fabric under the arms — not doman sleeves, but close. And then I also want some medium-wash skinny jeans for tucking into boots or wearing with flats.

These are adorably retro, right?

Pink Faded Glory flats, Goodwill Augusta, $5
I can't get enough bright pink. There were some scuff marks on these flats, which I was able to remove with a pink eraser and some window cleaner.

This is a perfect striped T-shirt that will get lots of wear, so it's appropriate that I've already worn it twice. It had a small light, stain on the front, a soak in OxiClean made that disappear and brightened up the whole shirt.
